From Our Treasurer

If you are considering giving and supporting Exchange Church for the growth of the Gospel, we’d be stoked. It’s our intention to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to as many people as we can in the Greater Shepparton area and the world beyond. We want to do this in word and deed.

We are a church that wants to seriously share the message of redemption and transformation found only in Jesus Christ. We also want to show the message of the Gospel through practical ways as well. So, we would appreciate any contributions you would like to make for the cause of the Gospel. We only ask that you do it cheerfully. We don’t want anybody feeling like they’re being dragged along to give.

At the back of the church is a small offering box, we do not pass around an offering plate, we encourage – and most people do – to give via direct transfer from their bank account of which the details are below. Giving is not just the giving of our money, it’s also the giving of ourselves in our time to the ministry in which we as a church body also encourage people to be actively involved.

In response to the rich salvation that Jesus has given to us, we want to generously give towards His kingdom so that others can come to know Him.

Gospel Ministry Centre – Donations above Offerings

Exchange Church has been planted a vision in establishing a Gospel Ministry Centre within Shepparton. This will ultimately become not only a Worship Centre on Sundays, but a place where Gospel Ministry can flow from all through the week. We are excited about the future, but at the same time we know obtaining the physical building will require a practical side in which sacrificial giving will be needed as people embrace the vision.

Question About Giving

God Gave First (John 3:16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

To Worship God (Matt 6:24) No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

To be Enriched (Acts 20:35) In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’.

To Multiply Ministry (1 Tim 5:17) Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching.

In the Old Testament, God’s people were encouraged to give a tithe (10%) of their income back to him.

By the time we reach the New Testament, a new principle is introduced – sacrificial generosity. Sacrificial generosity replaces the Old Testament principle of tithing. So, rather than being commanded to give 10%, Christians are now called to show generosity in response to God’s grace shown to us in Jesus Christ. Even though the New Testament does not lay upon us the old law of 10%, it would seem rather inconsistent with the gospel of grace for us to conclude that we should give any less than 10%. Paradoxically, grace actually lifts the bar on generosity rather than lowering it.

We seek to be transparent with our finances as we strive to stretch the gospel generosity we’ve received from our givers as far as we can for the cause of the gospel. We set out to maximise every dollar we receive because we think there’s nothing better than being able to connect people to Jesus and grow people in Jesus.
